About 7.6 million euro is planned to be invested in the creation of a regional innovation and business valley in Klaipėda. The implementation of the project in the coastal city was endorsed by the Klaipėda Regional Council.
Šarūnas Butkus, the head of the company UAB “Uosto verslo centras” implementing the innovation and business valley project, said that at the moment there is a lack of spaces where entrepreneurship, innovation as well as collaboration of science and business would be promoted in the Klaipėda region.
During the project the necessary infrastructure for start-ups will be created: modern workplaces (at least 120), training and conference rooms, common leisure and cooperation spaces will be equipped.
It is foreseen that educational institutions preparing specialists of information technology, digital design and other innovation fields will be established in the valley. It is also intended to attract investment companies searching for start-ups who could be given initial capital for development.
The project is implemented in cooperation between VšĮ “Investuok Lietuvoje”, VšĮ “Versli Lietuva”, Lithuanian Innovation and Technology Institute and Klaipėda city municipality.
