A new container train should increase the flows of Asian freight to Europe

Lithuania and Kazakhstan are discussing the perspectives of cooperation in the field of transport. Close cooperation between the countries should enable better development of international transport corridors going via Eurasian countries, and should generate good perspectives of growth for freight flows.

Favorable geographical position gives Lithuania fair opportunities for better transit conditions with Kazakhstan and other Asian countries to carry goods via Klaipeda Seaport to Scandinavia and Western Europe. With this aim the route of container train "Viking" should be related to the Asian international transport corridor TRACECA.

Kazakhstan Ambassador expressed the intentions of Kazakhstan to learn from Lithuanians the know-how of maritime business, European technologies and other transport business innovations. Kazakhstan also plans to implement the "Going to the West" program. The present priority of Kazakhstan transport sector is bound with the development of transit transport in Western direction.
