“Baltija” received new order for turn-key ships
7th of May 2010 "Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard received an order from Danish company SVITZER A/S. According to the agreement "Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard will build two new generation harbour tugs and there is possibility for another two as options.
Main particulars of tugs: length 31,5 m, width - 11,5 m; speed 12,5 knots; bollard pull - 65t; equipped with fire fighting system. Tugs will be build under Lloyd's Register of Shipping classification society and will be build to Danish flag. Design and elaboration of working documentation will be prepared by Baltic Engineering Centre (Klaipeda, Lithuania).
Although this design is similar to the design of tugs which "Baltija" built before, these new tugs will be longer and outfitted with brand new equipment. Delivery of the first prototype vessel is scheduled in December 2011 and second vessel in March 2012. "This order proves that "Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard is able to get orders not only for ship blocks, superstructures or hulls but also sophisticated turn-key vessels and fact that "Baltija" is for sales do not interfere with company strategy to stay in shipbuilding market and develop further" - says Vladislav Marinec the Head of Marketing and Sales department.
"Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard and SVITZER A/S has long-term cooperation. "Baltija" has already built 3 sea going escort tugs a decade ago and 10 fire-fighting harbour tugs in 2004 - 2006.
