Klaipeda and the Japanese Kudzu towns extended partnership agreement

Klaipeda and the Japanese Kudzu towns extended the partnership contract for an indefinite period to recognize twenty year anniversary of cooperation. Klaipeda mayor is glad that collaboration between Klaipeda and Kudzu continues and is getting stronger despite the great distance that separates two cities. Kudzu town was the first to announce its support for Lithuania's independence.

According to the Japanese Ambassador Mijoko Akashi 20 years of cooperation is a long period. She hopes that the example of Klaipeda and Kudzu will encourage other Lithuanian and Japanese cities to establish similar relationships. Klaipeda and Kudzu towns proved that partnership is possible despite the large geographical distance and cultural differences. Ambassador says that amber has connected Klaipeda and Kudzu towns.

Mayors have signed the contract which obliges each town to cooperate in various areas:  culture, education, youth organizations, tourism and business. The objective of agreement is to strengthen ties between the cities and get to know different culture.
