Klaipeda port - additional area for the passenger and freight terminal infrastructure
Government of the Republic of Lithuania is planning to increase the territory of Klaipeda state seaport by almost 0.96 ha. The site will be used to increase the passenger and freight terminal infrastructure - roads and railways.
The infrastructure will allow more convenient ways to serve the terminal and to send heavy transport from the city.
Passenger and freight terminal in Klaipeda port will be built next to the second Smiltynes transportation in the territory between the Minijos, Varnėnų and Nemunas streets, and to the continuation of the Baltijos prospect.
The value of construction may reach up to 500 million Lt. Financing will be provided by the EU Cohesion Fund, the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority and by the public and private funds.
After the construction port and cargo terminal will be able to handle more ships, vehicles and passengers. This will create better conditions for business and improve passenger service.
Klaipeda port is upgraded as an international component of transport corridor IXB.
