Foreign Direct Investment in Klaipeda
Several favourable factors have attracted FDI to Klaipeda and made city the third by foreign investments falling to Lithuanian cities per capita. On January 1, 2009, foreign direct investments in Klaipeda city amounted to 570.5 mln € with 3.102 € per one resident. The biggest investments came from Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Estonia and United Kingdom. The largest share of the investment goes to the manufacturing industry (56.2%) and transport and storage (11.2%) in Klaipėda County. Within the processing industry the greatest amount was invested in chemical products goods production (22.2%), food, beverages and tobacco production (14.5%), production of the equipment for motor vehicles, and other transport equipment (including ship construction and repair) (9%).
