Ship building and repair

Ship building in Klaipeda was already mentioned in the middle of the 18th century.Currently, there are 43 ship-repair, building and technical services companies in Klaipeda State Seaport. The main companies in Klaipeda are: Shipbuilding Yard “Baltija” JSC (est. in 1952), Western Shipyard JSC (est. in 1969), and “Laivite” JSC (est. in 1946). These companies are the most great and up-to-date shipbuilding and ship repair companies in the Baltic region.

The ship building and repair industry takes up a rather stable position in the general market. Lithuanian shipbuilding and repair companies since 1994 have successfully integrated into the world shipbuilding and repair market and feel equal partners in it, successfully competing with the companies of Western and Northern Europe. Our competitiveness is guaranteed by good geographical location, high quality of works, attractive prices, and the successful activity of Klaipeda’s port. It is more practical to repair ships in their navigation areas while they carry cargo.
